The 2023 IGRI Doctoral Workshop will take place May 21-24 at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Gjøvik, Norway. This workshop is open to students enrolled in Ph.D. programs. It is designed to complement the Institutional Analysis training offered from April 22 to May 24 and provide a more in-depth learning experience guided by experts in the IG and institutional analysis, including the opportunity to verify any IG-related coding puzzles students have encountered in their dissertation research.

IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE WORKSHOP, ALL WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS MUST ATTEND THE ONLINE 2023 INSTITUTIONAL ANALYSIS TRAINING. Workshop participants are expected to review the videos included in the training as well as attend live, online sessions.

The workshop is capped at 10 students. Training organizers will select students who, altogether, showcase diversity in topical domains, analytical approaches, and institutional affiliations.

There is no fee to participate in the workshop or in the Institutional Analysis training. Scholarships are available to support part of the cost of travel and accommodations. The exact amount of financial support will be determined during the application review process. Participants should expect that not all expenses associated with attendance may be covered.

To apply, please submit the following materials:

  1. Letter of interest (max. 1,000 words) that addresses the following criteria:
    a. How are you using the IG in your dissertation research?
    b. How does attending this workshop contribute to your program completion and professional development?
  2. Curriculum vitae
  3. Letter of support from your advisor
  4. Informal grade transcript
  5. Brief statement indicating the amount of financial support you are requesting. Please also indicate other sources of funding that you may be able to utilize to support your participation.

Please submit all application materials by March 1, 2023 at 11:59p.m. Eastern. Notification of acceptance of workshop application will be on March 15, 2023.
